NIKITA PATEL
since 2010
Angels Link Foundation (ALF) came into my life as a blessing—something I truly believe happened because of good karma. What began as curiosity slowly became purpose, and today it has become a lifelong commitment. ALF didn’t just teach me the joy of giving; it changed how I see the world, gratitude, and happiness itself.
When Monika and Kanan first introduced me to ALF, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to be part of this space. There was one pre-condition: I had to attend three events before joining as an “angel.” On 28 September 2010, I attended my first event. Fifteen years later, I still feel grateful every single day for stepping into that world. I often say that through ALF, I take back far more than I give.
My first experience was the Diwali celebration at Pragati Vidyalaya, a school for deaf and mute children. I watched a dull school transform into a space filled with colour, laughter, and magic. Every room was alive with activities—painting, games, and joy. Seeing the children smile filled me with gratitude and a feeling I had never experienced before: pure happiness.
The next event at the Children’s Home in Umerkhadi was a reality check. Watching the angels bring smiles into difficult lives was both heart-rending and uplifting. It made me realise how protected many of us are and how important it is to give back.
The third event, at ADAPT (formerly Spastics Society of India), a school for special children, sealed my decision. I saw how little it takes to create real joy. That was the moment I knew I belonged here.
Initially, I joined out of curiosity. But after those first three events, there was no turning back. Listening to Kanan Shah’s passion and drive is enough to inspire anyone. Over the years she has become my best friend, confidante, and source of energy. She has shown me that when you share happiness, it multiplies—and the joy you receive in return is immeasurable.
Over the last 15 years, ALF has given me countless unforgettable moments. Helping a haemophilic teacher from Kolkata receive treatment that saved his leg from amputation, working with cancer-affected villagers, meeting the girls from Kranti, and spending time at old-age homes and children’s centres—each experience has shaped me deeply. These interactions have taught me to value the smallest things in life and appreciate the true meaning of dignity and care.
Leadership Role
In March 2025, I stepped into a new role as CEO of Angels Link Foundation. It is both an honour and a responsibility I hold very close to my heart.
Today, I oversee the Foundation’s overall operations while continuing to remain deeply involved on the ground. I lead and manage four key verticals:
- Angels Link Pink – Human Welfare
- Angels Link Green – Environment & Sustainability Welfare
- Angels Link Animals – Animal Welfare
- Angels Link Pre‑Loved – Fundraising through sale of pre-loved goods.
Alongside this, I handle core administration, accounts, compliance, and CSR partnerships, ensuring that the Foundation’s work remains sustainable, transparent, and impactful.
Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to plan and execute several large-scale projects across verticals. These include initiatives such as the solar pump water project in Palghar, multiple environmental sustainability projects, and animal welfare efforts including cow shelters and dog rescue support homes – while continuing to stay actively involved in our human welfare programs, which remain at the heart of ALF.

What ALF Means to Me
ALF is not just an NGO to me.
It is my space, my community, my extended family, and my life’s work.
This journey has made me more aware, more grateful, and more compassionate. It has taught me that giving is not about money or scale – it is about showing up with heart, time, and sincerity. It has shown me how deeply small acts can transform lives, including our own.
I hope to continue this work for the rest of my life – even when I am 70. And more importantly, I hope younger women step in and carry this work forward with the same passion, integrity, and love that defines Angels Link Foundation.
