About the Foundation

Angels Link Foundation is built on the simple yet powerful belief that even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple of change. We are a Mumbai-based grassroots foundation focused on emotional, physical, and logistical support for individuals and communities in need—especially children, women, and the elderly.

We believe in giving not just money, but time, presence, and love. Our goal is to create sustainable human connections—through education, celebrations, interventions, and storytelling. Every individual deserves dignity and joy, and Angels Link is our way of making that possible.

We’re not a large institution. We’re a network of everyday women – angels, as we like to call them—who come together to make life a little better, one story at a time.

The Inspiration

The roots of Angels Link go back to a childhood immersed in empathy.

Kanan Shah grew up in a home filled with culture, books, and a quiet commitment to service. Her father was a man of principle and poise, who taught her that dignity is non-negotiable. Her mother was the epitome of kindness—cooking extra meals to feed anyone who came to the door, opening their home to those in need, and reminding Kanan that the value of giving lies in doing it without expectation.

Years later, in 2007, Kanan came across a newspaper article in the Times of India about a woman in Mumbai who had lost everything in a train accident. Her story was tragic—she had lost her husband, her limbs, and the means to support her family. Moved by the story, Kanan reached out to friends and family. Within days, her home was filled with donations—bags of clothes, toys, utensils, even a television.

The moment that changed everything? When Kanan saw the joy on the children’s faces and the tears in the mother’s eyes. That was when she realized: people want to help—they just need a link.

That link became the foundation.

The Lost Bus & The Found Friendship

The journey of Angels Link truly began back in Grade 7.

Kanan had missed her school bus one morning. As she rushed in late, she was worried about being scolded for not completing her homework. A girl she barely knew – Monika Sawant – noticed her panic and quietly passed her a copy of the completed assignment. That moment sparked a lifelong friendship, built on generosity and trust.

Years later, Monika would become one of the first people to call Kanan not just a friend, but a light in dark moments. It was this early bond that taught Kanan how small gestures can change lives and how one act of kindness can create a lifelong connection.

The Story of Jyoti Shinde and the Quadruplets

In 2008, Kanan saw a photograph that stopped her heart: a young mother sitting on a hospital bed with four newborns in her lap. Jyoti Shinde had just given birth to quadruplets, and had no support, no money, no diapers, even the basic hospital bill was unpaid.

Kanan and a friend drove to Kalyan, 90 minutes outside Mumbai, with bags full of baby clothes, diapers, toys, and essentials. They met Jyoti and were overwhelmed by the helplessness in the room but also the strength in her smile. That night, Jyoti’s husband called to say, “Your gifts brought back hope to our family.”

That day, Kanan sent out a message to her friends, asking for more help. The response was immediate and overwhelming – within a week, they were able to secure a home, cover medical costs, and arrange long-term support for the family.

The experience taught Kanan that there were so many who wanted to help but didn’t know how. That was the spark that made her say: “Let’s be the link between good hearts and real needs.”
